Finally ponied up and had a local photographer do a bunch of work this morning, I spent 5 hours total in the studio with him and got a number of stock shots for the website and a couple I'll be using for various ads and other other things. It was expensive not only because of his time but I built a little 'stage' for the guitars to sit on, with a maple floor and maple trim. The nice thing is that I learned alot by being there and with just a few more tools in my photo toolbag (some tungsten spots for one) I can do this at home.... here is a sample:











So now I get to spend this weekend updating the website, I'm working on a flash program that will play music and do a slideshow off the disk so that should be interesting...

they look great! Except for the one you glued the bridge on crooked. Dang man, you gotta be more careful!
I'm particulary fond of the warmness of the close-up shots. Did he do something different to achieve that effect?

Beautiful....like Paul said, except for the one with the crooked bridge. And it looks like the neck is all out of proportion too, like it was stretched in Photoshop or somethin'.

The warmth was these little tungsten spot lamps he had, he had two of them and used them to make it glow. The only other lights was a spot for the back drop, and two light boxes for cover lighting. The camera was on a large industrial tripod so exposure time was not an issue.

Since I was paying so much I really worked him and got four stock shots of each guitar (front, back, headstock and rosette) and then a number of artistic ones. I think he was used to people only getting a couple shots but I wanted my money's worth

Now I can finally update my website, show what I have in stock and do some flash slideshows to get my name out there. I've held back on advertising because I wanted to get all this done correctly before I did anything, the last thing I wanted was to put my name out and present a hokey image

About that crooked guitar--I'd be more concerned about the wood. Man, it looks positively diseased. Something's wrong with it, right?   You cut that guy a great deal, I'm sure!

Way to go, Sprockett. Those are stunning guitars. If I came upon those on a website, I'd hang around until my wife left and pull out the old credit card.

Okay, Paul, it has to be said. The photos and, especially, your guitars look VERY professional; however, in the future, I think you should rethink the guitar stand. You've got all that excellent wood and craftsmanship supported by an industrial, cookie-cutter blob of black metal and synthetics. You built that great stage (an outstanding idea, BTW!), so next time have a small hand-built, less obtrusive WOOD stand to hold those babies! You may find your customers asking for one of those, too. Extra-value options--woo hoo!!

Very well done Paul. Is the flag guitar sold? Beautiful inlay.

Should I rub you one more time about that poor glueup on the crooked bridge and frets. Gee.
